
In therapy the therapist is a tool for clients to use for processing, accountability, and guidance. In this sense, it is up to clients to come to therapy prepared with what they want to talk about. And in therapy, there is not a single topic that is off the table. The only requirement is that clients feel that sessions are therapeutically beneficial.
